What am I doing Here?
I started my legal research & writing practice in 1998. A few years ago, I found Lisa Solomon on the internet and asked her for some advice on running and marketing my practice. I thought my practice was successful, but Lisa showed me how to take it to a much higher level.
Lisa and I stayed in contact and, when Lisa launched Legal Research & Writing Pro, she asked me to be the primary blogger here while she focused on product development. So that’s why you see my name on most of the posts here at the Legal Research & Writing Pro Blog.
More About Me and My Practice
In my legal research and writing practice, I work with lawyers in law firms and corporations. My favorite projects are summary judgment motions, but I do all sorts of research and writing projects. My projects are large and small, but (almost) always interesting and diverse. I am constantly amazed that the law is flexible and agile enough to address any conflict that my clients bring to me.
I love the fact that my legal research and writing practice gives me the flexibility to explore many professional and personal interests. I am a Tennessee Rule 31 listed mediator and a founding member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators. I volunteer with the Nashville Conflict Resolution Center, which provides mediation services through the court system in Nashville. I periodically write book reviews for the Tennessee Bar Journal and the Nashville Bar Journal. I do some training for lawyers in legal research and writing and want to do more. I am a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International because I wish I were creative enough to be a songwriter and because songwriters just don’t get enough respect for the very valuable and important work that they do. (Remember that you are stealing from a struggling songwriter whenever you make an unauthorized copy of a recording!) I always try to find time to do volunteer work and am currently supporting a friend who is running for mayor of Nashville and co-chairing a wine tasting for my favorite charity, the Interfaith Dental Clinic.

More About My Background
I graduated with a degree in English from Vanderbilt University and received my law degree from the University of Mississippi. At Ole Miss, I was an Articles Editor and Research Editor for the Mississippi Law Journal. I was also the Managing Editor of the Fifth Circuit Reporter, which reviewed pending and recently decided cases from the Fifth Circuit. After law school, I clerked for United States District Judge Tom S. Lee in the Southern District of Mississippi and Judges E. Grady Jolly and Rhesa H. Barksdale with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
After my clerkships, I worked for the firm of Neal & Harwell in Nashville and then with firms in my home state of Mississippi. I returned to Nashville in 1995 to work in a corporate law department and began my solo practice in 1998.
I am licensed to practice in Mississippi and Tennessee. I am a member of the Nashville Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Mississippi Bar Association.
